DIY Dog Stocking
“The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog."
~ George Graham
This is one of my favorite quotes and is so fitting for the holidays. Us dog lovers know the value of our furballs and the loyal hearts they devote to us every single day, without fail. Now, I know I’m going a little bit “deep” for a DIY post, but you can never pass up an opportunity to boast about the love of your pup! Anyways, since they are such treasured family members, then they should ABSOLUTELY partake in ALL family traditions, and this is definitely not limited to the stockings that hang above the fireplace during Christmas!
And of course, since I’m always looking for a way to save money, I decided to TRY to make a stocking for Drake myself! Now, DIY success or possibly more a fail? I’ll let you decide! However, my mom taught me that things were always more special when they were hand made, then again, I was only 6 when she said that… but that’s beside the point!
Go ahead and give it a try, it will be very inexpensive and will at least fill your time with some fun and easy crafting!
- A plain red stocking (@ Michaels for $1.99)
- Fabric paint (I used white)
- Ribbon (any color/design of your choice)
- A variety of colored felt
- Small picture frame (optional)
- Craft glue
- Safety pins
Honestly, you can really do a lot of different things with even just these few materials. I tried a couple of times to make a cute bow out of the ribbon I had, to glue on the top, but couldn’t get it quite right! I also cut several shapes from the felt, but ended up going with the simple paw print!
Get creative and have some fun! And just remember, if all else fails, your dog doesn’t care what it looks like, once you stuff it with goodies, your dogs will dig into it Christmas morning regardless!
