National Puppy Day
Today is the day. One of the best days of the year. Thats right, Today, March 23rd is National Puppy Day. So get dressed, head to your nearest shelter or rescue group and get a puppy! Wait, sorry, I got ahead of myself on this one. Let's go over some things for the new #puppymomstobe. Yes, those sweet, warm, loving, balls of fur are adorable and precious, BUT they do come with a lot of responsibilities, work, and money. So before you head to puppyfinder.com let’s talk about a few things.
First you have to get your puppy kit in check! You are going to need to go on a little shopping spree for your new found love. Below are some of our favorite products along with two amazing apps, that are major must haves for us Gals.
Feed your dog Ollie
Ollie meals are vet-formulated and made with carefully and thoughtfully sourced ingredients that pets will love. Ollie makes it convenient for pet parents to give their pets nutritious, freshly made food by bringing the food right to their door, complete with instructions, nutritional information, and a tailored feeding plan. (Price varies; starting at $3/day)
Buy a Casper Dog Mattress
Engineered by the same team behind the Casper mattress, this durable dog mattress is a perfect sleep environment designed around dog behavior. ($125-$225)
Check out DogVacay
Having a dog doesn’t mean you can never leave home again. With DogVacay, you can give your pup a real home while you’re on vacation. Bookings include premium insurance, 24/7 customer support, and belly rubs. (Price varies based on sitter fee)
Download Puppy Coach 101
The Puppy Coach 101 is an app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone that can help get your puppy in shape. Young dogs can often get out of hand with barking, whining, not listening, peeing indoors, chewing up items around the house, and other unwanted behavior, but the Puppy Coach can help you take back control.
When it comes to toys for new pups, I would recommend hitting up good ol TJMAXX, new puppies go through toys like I go through a bottle of good wine. So when it comes to spending money on them, I like to hit up TJs for some toys, they range from $3-$10! They have name brand toys from previous collections as well! So you can stock up!
Another thing that you have to remember about getting a new puppy is the medical side. You have to make sure that your puppy is all updated on his shots and boosters for the first few months, along with getting them fixed! Puppies also come with a lot of work, there is potty training, getting through the dinosaur teeth, the chewing on shoes, the barking, and all the the other battles that come with a new puppy. BUT, there is also the love, the best friend, the cuddles, the warm wet kisses, the play time, and watching them grow to dogs. If you are ready to commit to new puppy in your life, that will depend on you for everything, then yes, PLEASE go save a pup from the shelter! You will never regret it! Head to our Save A Pup page to find a puppy near you!
Here are a few photos of our Doggie CEOs when they were small little puppies! Oh how somedays I wish they were all this small again, but that feeling only last for a few days! (wink wink)!
