Puppy Baby Mama: Renata
It’s that time of the week again, #woofcrushwednesday/#womencrushwednesday and also known as Puppy Baby Mama day here on Gal’s Best Friend. Every Wednesday we spotlight one of our favorite Puppy Baby Mamas from all over the world! This week we are going crazy over Renata and her two babies Kyra and Kayden! They are giving us all the feels and so many goals on every level! We caught up with this trio and asked them so questions that we know everyone is dying to know! Check out Renata’s answers below!
How did you and your pup find each other?
Kyra my Alaskan Malamute I found on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with a broken leg. I took her to the vet and she wasn't microchipped or have a collar so I made the decision of paying for her surgeries and adopting her. Best decision Ive made in my life. Kayden, my Siberian Husky, I foster failed (won) through Texas Husky Rescue. I started volunteering there after adopting Kyra. Kayden was surrendered by an abusive previous "owner". He was malnourished, had a lot of different infections, and also needed surgery. He was my first foster through the rescue and a week later I signed his adoption paperwork. Kyra and I fell in love with this sweet boy that still wagged his tail after everything he's been through and we knew we were all meant to be a trio.
What are your top 3 favorite dog brands and why?
I really love Orijen and their sister company Acana for food. They are #1 and #2 best rated kibble and closest to feeding raw. Ruffwear for their leash and collars because they are strong and durable for my two pullers. I also really love a company called "The Bones & Co" They have a lot of great raw feed products and add on's to a kibble. For example their Bark Boost is a combination of lots of cold pressed greens, turmeric, coconut oil, and beef broth all to be added to your fur-babies kibble.
What is the perfect day date with your pup like in your city?
When we lived in Austin we loved paddle boarding on the lake and grabbing lunch afterwards at the nearby place that also has a doggie menu. Now we live in Los Angeles and we love hiking out by the ocean, going to the doggie beach, and grabbing lunch in Malibu. Some of our other favorites things to do are day trips. Sometimes we just drive up the coast and hit wineries in Santa Barbara, drive further north and hike Yosemite, or rent a cabin in the mountains and play in the snow in the winter.
How did you build your dog's account?
I always joke that my dogs took over my Instagram...well, because they really did. When I first found Kyra, she had three surgeries over a year for her broken leg. The night before her last surgery, I posted a photo on Instagram with a short bio of how we rescued each other. The account @DogsofInstagram reposted it and overnight the account grew by thousands. After that BuzzFeed saw our story and reached out to write it. It was posted on the front page of their website and from there the account grew even more. I then realized it is no longer my personal account and only posted my adventures with Kyra. A year later, there was my boy Kayden!
