The District Concert Series – Straight Up (George Strait tribute)

The District Concert Series sponsored by Choctaw Casino & Resort and The Christie Cannon Team will take place outdoors in The District, Willow Bend’s new and exciting restaurant area! Listen to fantastic tribute bands play the songs you know and love – while you picnic in The District or dine on one of the restaurant patios.

Due to restaurant support of this event, coolers with outside food and beverage are not permitted. Beer and wine will be available for purchase from Ascension Annex.  If you purchase $25 or more in takeout food from Willow Bend Restaurants you get a free roll-up picnic blanket. It’s a made-to-order combo, perfect for relaxing dinners listening to your favorite Tribute Bands! Redeem your receipts at The Mobile Concierge from 5 – 9 pm on concert nights.One blanket per customer. While supplies last.

Blankets and lawn chairs are allowed for comfortable seating.

Oct 4: Straight Up (George Strait tribute) – “King of Country” is one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time.  He has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.  Straight Up brings the music of George Strait to you with the sights and sound that make you feel like you are at one of his shows.

​In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled for Sunday at 2 pm. A determination of weather-altered plans will be made by 3 pm. on the day of the concert. Check our Facebook page for updates the day of the concert.

Save the date for the 2019 InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, September 20-22 at Plano’s Oak Point Park.

2019 mark’s 40 years of Ballooning in Plano, Texas. Join in the Celebration at the InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, a spectacular three-day event beginning at 4:00 pm Friday, September 20th at Oak Point Park in Plano. This weekend event offers something for everyone; live music and entertainment, a parachute team exhibition, a kids fun zone, tons of food, merchandise and handmade products, and more than 40 incredible hot air balloons.

The balloons will launch Friday at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, and Sunday at 7:00 am and 6:00 pm (weather permitting). As thousands of smiling faces are awestruck by the vision of hot air balloons filling the sky with a Kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. HEAR IT… Friday and Saturday evenings as the roar of burners being ignited adds to the thrill of seeing special shapes and colorful balloons set against the back drop of the dark night sky. The balloon glow is a MUST see presented by the City of Plano! FEEL IT… An action packed weekend of skydivers, hot air balloons, concerts, a huge kid’s fun zone, merchandise vendors, corporate exhibitors and a variety of foods.  Young and old have much in common when they are enjoying the colorful balloons that will fill the skies over Plano, Texas.  Hop on the “Balloon Flyer” from the DART Parker Road Station because busses run continuously during the festival operating hours.  Come make memories with your family.

Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk – Corks and Classics

Join us for the 2019 season of the Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk presented by Plano Magazine! The #planowinewalk is returning for its 4th year. This year Total Wine & More has joined the event as wine sponsor, Ewing Buick GMC is main stage sponsor and Linear Automotive is providing additional event support.

Attendees of the Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk sample select wines around the neighborhood while enjoying live music, local art and shopping. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with check-in at event1013, where attendees receive a commemorative glass, tasting card and wine guide. There are approximately 20 wine stops each month, with each location serving a different wine.

While enjoying wine samples, attendees keep track of the locations they visit on their tasting cards. Participants turn in their cards to enter the raffle drawing in McCall Plaza at 9:15 p.m. Participants must be present to win.

Each month has a unique theme:
April 11 – One Love
May 9 – Flower Power
June 13 – Reds, Whites and Blues
July 11 – Dog Days of Summer
August 8 – Sideshow
September 12 – Corks and Classics
October 10 – Dia de los Muertos
November 14 – Alma Mater
December 12 – Winter Onesie-land

Immediately following the raffle at 9:15 p.m. the fun moves to Hub Streat for the official after-party. Hub Streat will be offering Wine Walkers $5 glasses of wine and $5 appetizers.

TICKETS:
Art & Wine Walk tickets can be pre-purchased online for $15, or purchased at the door for $20. Pre-purchased ticket sales stop when the event sells out, or until the day of the Art & Wine Walk at 3 p.m. A limited number of tickets are available, so be sure to get yours early! VIP Season Passes are available for $130 and include discounted entrance to all Art & Wine Walks this year, a different glass to match the theme each month and priority event check-in.

K-9 Kerplunk Dog Swim

All canines are invited to get their splash on during the K-9 Kerplunk Dog Swim on Sunday, September 8. This annual Parks and Recreation event is perfect for dogs looking to have a blast frolicking at Oak Point Recreation Center. Treat your pets to some quality time in the outdoor shallow pool at the Center (6000 Jupiter Road) from 9 a.m. to noon.

All dogs are welcome to play (swim suits, optional) as long as their rabies vaccinations are current. Plano Animal Shelter staff will set up their adoption trailer on site and provide on-the-spot microchipping. Things to remember for K-9 Kerplunk:

  • Dogs are not allowed in the indoor pool – outdoor pool ONLY.

  • Pet owners are not allowed in the water with the dogs.

  • Lemonade and goodies provided by Raising Cane’s.

Admission to K-9 Kerplunk is free, BUT you’re asked to bring a donated item for the Animal Shelter.
