Easy DIY Bowtie With ZERO Sewing

When it comes to last minute plans, I am the queen! I’m not sure why it happens, but most things that I do or attend are done without a lot planning. I’m pretty low maintenance as far as fashion goes, so this sort of “on the fly” lifestyle, doesn’t really affect me much. However, when Drake is involved in those plans, I always want him to be dressed to PERFECTION! Whether it's an American flag bandana on the 4th of July or a Dallas Cowboy’s jersey for Sunday night football, he has to be looking good!

So, for those last minute party goers that always have their canine companion with them, I have found the quickest and easiest DIY bowtie that you can throw together for any occasion!

 

All you need is...

• Fabric (I bought different colored swatches from Hobby Lobby, only 99 cents each)

• Hot Glue gun

• Scissors

• Iron (if you want it to look very “crisp”)

Step 1, 2 and 3

• Depending on the size of your pup, cut your fabric into a rectangle. Don’t worry about using your best scissors because the best part about this DIY project, is that it really doesn’t need to be perfect!

For Drake, who is 35 lbs, I cut the fabric into about a 4in. by 9 in. rectangle. I learned this the hard way, my first attempt was a DIY FAIL for sure- way too large.

• Fold the edges, from each long edge, to meet in the middle.

If you want the bowtie to look very clean and sharp, iron at the end of each step.

• Fold in again, but this time from the short edges, to meet in the middle.

Again, if desired, use an iron after this ste

Step 4.

Pinch the middle of the fabric into a bowtie shape.Then, hot glue the inside together. (See picture for below for a better understanding.)

I had to play with it for a little while before I got it to the shape I was wanting.

Step 5.

With what is left of the fabric, cut a small strip and glue one end to the back of the bowtie. Wrap it around, covering the front, and glue it again on the back. With the leftover strip you can choose to cut it off OR wrap it around in a loop.

Step 6.

Get your dog to sit still so you can snap a picture of them looking oh so cute and showing off their new bowtie swag!
