4 Easy Ways To Keep Your Dog Entertained At Home
During this Covid-19 outbreak, every dog across the country is loving life right now (except for the pups who have owners in the healthcare industry. We thank you!). With their owners at home in isolation or practicing social distancing, it’s important to utilize this time by spending some quality one-on-one time with your pup. However, when it’s time to go back to work, here are some tips for keeping your dogs entertained at home.
Make Your Dog Work For Their Food
When it comes to your dog’s food, keeping their meals in its simple form of a dog bowl is useful, but in order to keep them distracted, it might be worth making them work a little harder for their food. There’s plenty of products that you can use as brain games for your dog to work out how to get to the food. Not only is this good to keep them engaged for a long period of time, but it also allows them to eat their food at a regular pace. A lot of dogs will eat like their life depends on it, and that can be bad for their digestive system if they’re not chewing big chunks of food properly. Use these as an incentive and a little mini challenge they can do on their own every day. You can always get different options to switch it up every now and then! Give Them More Space To Roam
It’s important that you try not to confine your dog to one space. But on the other hand, giving them freedom to roam around the house can be quite nerve-racking for your pet and also for all of your household objects. The last thing you want is for them to get stressed out in too small or large of a space, so limit their roaming ability to perhaps two rooms. This can give them a bit of variation and the opportunity to mooch about or to switch sleeping positions. Whether that’s perched on the top of an armchair that’s looking out of their window or finding a warm spot on the kitchen floor. A bit of a variety can keep your pup from getting bored. TOYS, TOYS, and more TOYS
It’s important to be wary of your belongings when it comes to dogs and pets in general. If they’re bored, frustrated or not house trained properly, then some of your belongings might pay the price. You may have spent a lot of time and money on your clothes and learning what Monkstrap shoes are so that you can add them to your shoe collection. However, your beloved wardrobe can become chew toys for your dog, and they wouldn’t realize! So, be wary of where you keep your belongings and be sure they have plenty of their own toys to play with! Every dog has their own preference when it comes to toys; Abbie and Pharrell love tennis balls, Rosie loves her Bark toy basket, Gunner loves anything he can de-stuff or rubber he can eat, and Pippa loves squeaky toys!
Hire A Dog Walker
If you aren’t one of the lucky ones who are able to work from home and walk your dog as needed, we suggest asking a friend to walk your pup for you or hiring a dog walker! Keeping your dog inside all day whilst you’re at work isn’t always the best situation to leave them in when you’re gone for hours. It might be worth hiring a dog walker to pop by and walk your dog on a daily or twice-weekly basis, just so they have a bit of variation and can get out of the house.
